How do you translate your brand reputation online as an old business?

As a social media manager, I’ve seen this many times: local businesses with good brand reputation relying on word-of-mouth.

But that is not enough anymore. With many emerging competitors well-versed in digital marketing, you must adapt to sustain the business.

But how do you translate your brand reputation online? Especially when you are starting from zero to a few followers?

Here are the best ways to show that.

Strong social media set-up

From your user name to bio or description, make sure it is clear and easy to understand what you do and what your products/services are. Make sure to include numbers (ex. year established, number of clients served, relevant rankings, etc.). Most importantly, make sure your setup is search-optimized.

Testimonials

Let others brag for you. Get testimonials from your loyal or old customers. Ask them to write a review on your Facebook review page and then repost it to your other platforms. This is one of the most powerful ways to show your brand reputation!

User-generated content (UGC)

This is similar to testimonials. But this time, you are reposting public posts like photos, reels, blogs, vlogs, etc., made by your customers and clients. Some brands pay for UGC content, too.

Post in-person events

You probably have events you actively participate in. Post more about them. Whether that’s your involvement in community events or an event your company organizes internally. This showcases your brand’s credibility and environment.

Post business behind the scenes

Showcase a part of your business that implies tradition, quality service or products, or brand reputation. A glimpse of how’s working with you or your business like, that people can’t help but want to be a part of.

Another post type people love seeing on social media these days is Employee-Generated Content (EGC). Which basically showcases fun skits or trends featuring your employees.

Talking head videos

It’s one thing for people to see photos of you and your business on social media. However, it’s an entirely different effect when people can see and hear someone talk to them from a screen. People get to experience your energy or judge your expertise through how you speak and your online personality.

So, if speaking is one of your strongest suits, capitalize on that.
