Here’s a hard truth about social media:
If your current followers are not buying from you, getting more followers will not change that.
I have seen businesses with tens of thousands of followers struggle to monetize that audience. On the other hand, I saw some who have a few thousand and are getting customers through their social media.
The same is true with my socials. Even when I was inactive for a long time and posting passively, I still got inquiries.
Why are your social media followers not buying?
One of these might be your problem:
- Your current followers are not your ideal clients.
- Your social media messaging is confusing.
- You rarely talk about your products or services.
- You are not giving your followers enough reason to buy.
Here are the things you should do:
BUILD an organic following
Don’t fall into the trap of paid following. That might fake reputation, but that doesn’t result in effortless sales.
Forget close friends and family – most likely, they are not your target audience so don’t demand follow or engagement from them.
BUILD a community of real people who genuinely need your message and services. It takes time. But if you are looking to grow a sustainable business – think of social media as a marathon and not a sprint.
Always pace yourself.
KEEP your community involved and engaged
It’s so easy to get obsessed with getting MORE followers. Without even noticing that a lot of people are unfollowing your socials. It’s one thing to grow your followers. The question is are you keeping them in your community?
When you build a stronger connection with them, unfollowing your pages will not be an option for them.
Make sure you keep your connection through your content and engagement strategies – be interested and be interesting!
Show WHAT transformation you can give
Not just in one or two rare posts. Make it obvious through your bio, covers, and pinned posts. Make it obvious but not in their face.
Make it simple so they don’t need to guess or figure out what exactly it is that you do.
Keeping it stupid and simple will easily make them associate you as the solution to their problem when they need it.
Clearly show HOW you help
Not knowing the HOWs for your services can be a big block for your audience to buy. So make sure you show them. Whether that’s a glimpse of your process, your behind-the-scenes, or client testimonials.
This will increase their confidence in your solution, and remove fear.
Give them OPTIONS
Your audience will have different levels of readiness to buy. You can use that as leverage for a stronger – long-term connection. From free resources to high-ticket services.
Make sure you have options to support them in their level of readiness.
Keep talking about your OFFERS
You need to talk about your products and services every day! Talking about it, and showcasing it is different from trying to constantly sell it to people.
Social media is a distracting space. Repetition is a must.
People need to keep seeing your offer before they even consider buying – once, twice – even 7th time isn’t enough anymore.
Repeat your message for it to sink in.
